Clutch Problem - VW Polo

I have a 2001 Polo. Around 3 months ago, there where some noises, best described as scraping noises, that the car was making, car was driving okish. Brought to a garage, turned out to be the clutch pressure plate or something worn down, anyways a new clutch kit was installed.

Few weeks ago I had a vacuum system leak and a few electrical niggles and brought it to another mechanic to fix. He did the work and then pointed out that there was a problem with the release bearing of the clutch. Its making a sort of 'tichy' noise, which I hadnt noticed before. Brought the car down to the garage where I got the clutch done and they gave me some spiel about it being a lose alternator bearing. I rang the mechanic who told me to not be a fool and go back down. I did and insisted they take a further look, which they did. They admitted there was a noise and something was up with the release bearing. They said it was a known issue and they would only do something if it got worse.

Lately the noise has got a little louder and the clutch is quite stiff, and makes a sorta groaning stiff noise when pressed/depressed. I do plan on bringing it down, but just wanted to ask what people make of the situation.

Should the garage fix it free of charge? I have a feeling they didn't do a very good job, for a release bearing to be causing problems...

    Thanks in advance!
