    Driving without due consideration?
    Picture this.
Driving my car,I come to a set of traffic lights(red) three cars in front, whem the lights turned green the first car then indicates to turn right(this lane is for straight on and right turn).I give the horn a couple of short blasts.I then have to lock the wheel to enter the inside lane(also straight on & turn left lane). As I reach the lightrs I try and get the drivers attention,I get the finger from him.I continue on straight and return the gesture out my window. Then the second car in the group pulls out behind me and turns on the blue flashing lights(unmarked garda car).I get pulled over and after the usual checking of documents(all in order)basically get told to expect a ticked in the post for driving without due consideration.I tell the guard the late indicator should be getting the ticket, and get told to argue in court if I want to.Ticket arrived E80 & 2 points, and I am wondering is it even worth my while risking going to court,as more points and fine if its not thrown out.

On what grounds would you be appealing?

YOu don't come across as very considerate.

You didn't have to sound your horn when the first car indicated right. You didn't have to pull into the left hand lane. You didn't have to catch the attention of the first car. You could have patiently waited and then crossed the junction. That's what most people would do. You want to be different, well an occasional €80 is surely worth it for the satisfaction?

He's not very considerate of retards but I wouldn't hold that against him.

Isn't the general rule that when you have two or more lanes you stay on the innermost lane unless overtaking or turning right?

Its more than inconsiderate to sit at traffic lights and only after they turn green decide to let the drivers behind you know that you always intended to turn.Is that too musch for you to comprehend, maybe ur the spa that was driving the car

If given a choice of two lanes at a set of lights, both of which allow for going straight, why on earth would you pick the one that might leave you potentially stuck behind someone waiting to turn right?

The driver ahead of you wasnt being very considerate granted, but in fairness your reaction was OTT and you were unlucky enough to get caught. Appeal it if you wish but I really dont see the point considering it would be your word against the Gardas in court.

Guy was in the right lane, turning right. No problem. You beeped, changed lanes halfway back in a queue and at a junction and gave him the finger.

I think they are right. I can't see how you would argue it ?

queueing in traffic, both ok to use.

Sorry I don't really understand what difference indicating early would have made here??

You would still have had to wait behind him?

How many points did the spa get?

    Thanks :)

I suffer rage like the OPs and by default avoid any lane that allows both unless I am turning right :)

No i wouldn't.if I knew he was turning I would have taken the inside lane, read the initial post.

I don't see any problem other than you getting worked up over nothing and changing lanes for no reason than to save a few seconds.
There is no law for him to indicate early and this happens a lot, drivers indicate only when they turn the wheel. Just a fact of life I'm afraid.

You 'returned the gesture'. What a mature driver attitude to have. You sound like an aggressive driver.

Take the left lane anyway if going straight. Youre not going to get stuck behind a car that is turning left.

Ok I seem to be the only one who has sympathy for the OP.
To whoever said in this situation (2 lane junction, both marked that you can go straight ahead) you should stay in the inner lane, if so then mark the outside lane lane as right turn only as its likely someone ahead of you is going to turn right.
There are a lot of drivers on the road who only decide to indicate when the light goes green but apparently the guards don't consider this driving without due consideration.

Doesn't really sound like the right charge to me, but definitely sounds like aggressive driving (and that's the OPs own side of the story).

I think you've got off lightly, only time I got pulled for anything like that I had to endure a ten minute tirade about road rage from a very angry garda (kinda weird).

Reckon you'll have to wear it.

Judge will say something along the lines of what if someone did that to your mother...

Thats ok then?, I would have thought that was very bad driving to indicate only when the lights change?. People get worked up here about about people driving in the M50 middle lane but have no issue with this.
