FedEx charging me duty \ taxes - bought item with AirMiles

Anyone know if I am liable for import duty \ taxes on goods that cost me nothing. In summary, I had some airmiles to use with Etihad so decided to get the youngfella a Nintendo 3DS. All the points covered the Nintendo 3DS so I didn't have to put anything towards it. Goods arrived no problem but I came home to an invoice…

Its on Value, not amount paid.

Hence why the Gift thing doesn't work either.
