Recently got the AppleTV (3G) and synced it nicely with my friend's home TV using Apple's "Remote" app via a UPC modem. For anyone unfamiliar with this iPad/Pod touch remote App, it allows you to control your TV via the AppleTV box using finger swipe motions on the iPad/Pod screen. This is so much better that using the sleek remote that comes with the package, since you have access to a regular keyboard on your iPad when browsing.
When I brought the AppleTV device home, hooked it up, and tried to sync it with my TV via my Eircom modem, I was confronted with the message: "Turn On Home Sharing." After following the prompts ad infinitum and turning on the home sharing as instructed numerous times, I never could get the iPad to sync with the AppleTV device and in turn with my TV.
I can sync the system fine using the official metal remote that came with the AppleTV device; it's when I try to run the system using the Apple remote app on my iPad. Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated.
