Comments

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

So let me get this straight, I get Netflix (For free) and watch movies (For Free) and then I cancel my account and get €14.00 (For Free)

    No questions asked!

    Is that right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,383 ✭✭✭peckerhead

And it only takes 1-2 years for Fatcheese to credit you with the €14... :D

THREE MONTHS FREE AT NETFLIX! Netflix allows you to instantly watch unlimited TV episodes & movies over the Internet right on your TV, computer and various mobile devices. Get €14 back with FatCheese which will pay for months 2 & 3 following your 30 day free trial!
    http://www.fatcheese.ie/free-cashback/

Does this not kind of imply that you have to spend the €14 on a Netflix extension

No. You get the payment to your fatcheese account that you can then transfer to your bank account. No strings attached.

They might possibly make a few quid out of you if you don't set your account to cancel after the trial period as happened with me. But there aren't any tricks.

It's a pretty good service. I'll probably continue to keep subscribing.

The €14 covers the cost of the 2nd&3rd month Is the way im reading it?.

    Fatcheese are a scam
    Fatcheese are a scam
    Fatcheese are a scam

Did I mention Fatcheese are a fat scam?

    Andy Carroll,

Ease up with the scam talk please..

I can show you at least 2 Paypal receipts of receiving money from them, so take grievances elsewhere!

definitely not a scam i always use fatcheese though some retailers take some time to put credit on your account am still happy with it better than nothing i've got several withrawals there now and went through paypal no problem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,739 ✭✭✭nava

Also agreed not a SCAM, just last week got 155 cashback from Fatcheese and have 30 waiting, regarding Netflix you can try opening 2 accounts 1 pay with credit card (they do not accept debit cards) the other with paypal so you get 2 payments of €14 does take about 2 weeks to show on the account, make sure you watch at least 5h of shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,396 ✭✭✭lindtee

I forget to use fatcheese half the time but still have gotten nearly €70 paid out by them and another €8 pending.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭Tiesto

I wouldnt bother wasting the time either
I found them great up until about 9 months ago where purchases failed to get tracked. And they completely stopped responding to queries aswell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭podge3

While Fatcheese may not be a "scam", I would advise not buying something based on the expectation of cashback from them.

I have had some cashback but almost nothing in the past 12 months. I currently have over €100 outstanding with with from retailers like O2, Maplin, Vodafome, AA Insurance etc. They will not respond to any tickets or claims.

This may be off topic but IMHO is relevant to this thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,618 ✭✭✭amber2

Would be interested to see also if anyone gets cash back through Farcheese some retailers are guaranteed cash back on Fatcheese website & probably best opt for these retailers but don't base your decision on getting that cash back as it may not happen. Again I have not had good experiences with then bought a laptop and 2 years on still have an opened ticked and when I contacted the retailer they said they never had any affiliation with the site also booked two hotels through fat cheese and nothing back over a year on. As someone posted earlier they don't respond to tickets. Just pot luck I guess.

i got my august cashback of €34 just last week. so i got mine early. i have to say cant fault them

The only thing about FatCheese is that you'll be waiting ages for your money and if you don't get it or something goes wrong they won't deal with any of your claims. Terrible service.

I could show you 2 as well where they paid up.
But I could show you more than 10 where they didn't. And I could show you claims that have been pending for years.

I've used Fatcheese a few times, Meteor, 02, Vodafone, Dell, Simply electronics... Granted Vodafone was very slow to pay out but that was down to them, and not FC.

If I wasn't on my second Netfilx trial already I'd sign in for this. What have you go to lose?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

I've gotten over a hundred euro back from fatcheese over the past year, have had a few months wait on some transactions though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 391 ✭✭Twenty10

I joined Fatcheese in February this year, used it three times and have received 150 euro cash back. Took a while for money to be credited but all three items were paid into my account :)

    This.

They also have ignored all emails dating back over a 18 months and blocked me on facebook.
If you are happy with a service that acts like that and has that kind of strike rate and believe it still not be a shambles, then your expectations are way below mine and way below where they ought to be.

got 34€ back this week, most of it free credit and some of it early.
have got almost 300 in total.
it all hinges on them being paid by the seller.

I was in the same situation. Owed over 70 euro by fatcheese. They wouldn't respond to claims or queries for months. Until last week that is. I got paid the money owed and also got emailed regarding a query. I had thought they had gone out of business but must be back in the last few weeks!

Have three outstanding tickets from FatCheese going back to January, it would be nice to get a response to say they are looking into it.

Awaiting payment for a Hotels.com stay in Chicago from December 2011.

It's not necessarily the payment pending that irks most, it's the utter lack of communication from Fatcheese concerning same.

No excuse for that imo, it's just shoddy.

i'm waiting on a hotels.com payment from August 2011. That said i got a refund last week for some other stuff.

Its the complete lack of communication from them when things go wrong that make it a shoddy service. They dont reply to tickets and the live chat to an agent is non existant.

Well there is no harm in "going near" them, but just dont count on getting the money (although I have been paid about €50 in total from them)

    B
etter off not going near those jokers at all. Let them crash and burn and hopefully the business model will be picked up by a company that actually communicates with their customers and gives them what they are promised.

The more people just go for pot luck with fatcheese the more money goes into their coffers and enables them to just go on doing it.

Maybe someone should send a mail to Joe Duffy

Went through with this just outta curiosity of Fatcheese and that I intended to give Netflix a go anyway, as it's free. When does your €14 show up? How does it work? I clicked 'Get Cashback' or whatever, and it led me to Netflix- I signed up and that's that but €14 isn't showing up in the 'My Account' section of Fatcheese.

I have gotten a few hundred back from Fatcheese, so has my sister.

Plus, I have never bought something just for the money back on fatcheese. So there is nothing to lose by using their link.

Did you watch 5 hours on it? I didn't and now I'm after getting charged for my 2nd month! So plan of making money has backfired! my payment isn't pending either...

I've opened a ticket but sure will be months by the time they get back to me ... better cancel it before next month!

I have watched more than 5 hours and the payment hasn't shown up on my account. :( Ohwell, still got a months free trial of netflix and maybe I will try it with a different credit card to see if it works.

btw you can cancel you're subscription immediately during your trial period without disturbance and will only lose access when trial is finished. You won't get charged for the next month.

    Are you sure of that?

I have a reminder on my phone to cancel it next week. But I want to finish Son's of Anarchy on Netflix.

^ Yep, cancel now and it'll only end your sub / disconnect you after 30 days is up - so cancel whenever you want,

Netflix would be doing you a favour. Have you gotten to episode when they go to Norn Iron. TV doesn't get much cringier :) Do yourself a favour and watch Breaking Bad instead

HAHAHA. Yeah I have. Found it hilarious! :D The theme tune is absolutely priceless. Can't post it right now.

I am up to date in Breaking Bad too. Would be great if netflix was actually showed the up to date episodes a couple of days after they are released.

Yeah that's the case. If you want to see out the month you've paid for but don't want to continue you can cancel now. You'll get a message while you're doing it confirming that

I think it has to be at or near the DVD release before NetFli can release episodes.

As a side, I read on an unofficial site that Breaking Bad season 4 is hitting UK/IRE NetFlix on Sept 1st.

Which is around a month before the DVDs are scheduled to be released.
