Practice facilities

    Hi Folks,

I'm one of those who due to the recession my home club is no longer on my door step to pop up and practice my short game etc during the evening.

I visit the driving range where I can practice contact with wedges etc by where you want the ball to land but you don't get the feeling of how far it will run in a real situation like the green etc..

Anywhere in south Dublin where one could use decent practice facilities or am I better off trying pitch and putt courses etc...

    Thanks
    Kev.

As far as i know you pay for of their main services like the range or the pitch n putt and then you are free to use the other facilities. You'd be best to ring them. Iv used the chipping and putting greens occasionally after the range when i am about to head off. Nobody has said anything so i assume there is no additional charge.

No bother. Not one to tell someone how to run their business but i think they could benefit for doing one of those specials you see in the Spawell or other ranges. Unlimited balls for 2 hours or any basket size for the price of the smallest in the off peak times. They have a loyalty card thing similar to a coffee shop where you get a stamp which is good to be fair.

Was a frequent user of the Newcastle facilities when I lived in Lucan but alas I have moved further south so its a bit of trek these days.

Does leopardstown still have a practice green for chipping and putting? Not the synthetic one you pay for.
They used to have a little practice area beside the 10th (?) but I think that's now gone?

Anywhere else in south Dublin with decent practice facilities open to all?

Leopardstown practise facility still there, beside the first hole but they charge for it AFAIK.
