Use: College, music, movies, skype, INTERNET, connect to phone(samsung galaxt s2),

    Interface: windows 7 or 8
Size: Nothing to big but nothing too small,
Memory: 500gb with at least 3gb ram ( although id like the laptop to be really fast as slowness drives me maaddddddddd)
    Processor: core i5 or equivaleant

    Overpriced laptop that Sony ^

If you not looking for something too big and portability is important for you I'd recommend this.

Mind you, this model is 2 years old. Although it doesn't say, I suspect the CPU to be a 1st generation Core i3, probably a 380M. And the GT310M is quite old as well, no DirectX11 support.

It is first gen cpu , nothing fancy ,perfect for OP

    http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/laptops/1279687/samsung-q430

Unless OP wishes to increase the budget ..

    and I don't mind :D

I'd say this is the better offer, Sandy Bridge Processor, 6 GB RAM and 500 GB HDD for €493 at elara.

Or this Lenovo for €482 (I like the brand better than PB ;) ), pretty much the same specs, though only 4 GB but better battery life (if that's important).

This is now CPU game now is it ?

    http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Packard_Bell_EasyNote_TS11-HR-595UK_Core_i5_Laptop_in_Black_NX.BWREK.002/version.asp

It not the point though,OP will have to decide what aspects are more important ,portability or performance .

The laptops you linked are 15.6 screen size btw.

From what I read in the OP, I'd say it is very much the point... ;)

A bit confused though why (s)he picked an overpriced Pentium B960 in the first place... ;)

Nice find that SB Core i5 btw, although PB isn't exactly one of my favorite brands. ;)

I believe this is exactly what the OP is looking for...

15.6" is a good compromise between ultra portables (13.3-14") and clumsy desktop replacements (17" and bigger), no?

And as for the "good speakers", some laptops produce an OK sound, some are outright cr@p, either way, if you really want good sound, get a set of decent speakers.

No matter how you spin it, tacofries, you're looking for a low budget laptop for less than 500 yoyos, so do not expect any miracles, there is a reason why real powerhouses are so expensive, you know. ;)

OP, I think you need to know a few things before you go buying a laptop.

1 - the amount of Ram won't really dictate the speed of everyday use as long as it's over 2gb (which every laptop is). If you want a fast interface, then the key lies in a quality hard drive. there's 5200rpm and 7200rpm hdd's available as well as ssd's which are vastly superior but also more expensive. In short make sure it either has 7200rpm hdd or an ssd.

2 - No particular laptop is faster than any other in terms of connection speed unless they use a completely ancient wireless card.

3 - for what you need it for, you won't need more than an i3 with 4gb ram. any more would be an unnecessary cost on your part.

4 - avoid any highstreet retailer (argos etc) you'll be vastly overcharged.

Definitely Acer - cheap and better than Lenovo. Had mine for 2 years now and it's fine for college work - this is right up your ally.

If you're commuting though, you might want a netbook - you should be able to find a decent one for well under 500.

Dell Inspiron 14Z: Ivy Bridge Processor, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD

Seems to be the best I can do for size, weight and what I need it for (A little gaming, general college work, etc). A big selling point for me is the disc drive and also I don't want to have to replace it any time soon. Can get it for €650. 'Tis quite a big investment for me, think I'm getting a pretty sweet deal though?
