    It's Saorview approved isn't it? Why wouldn't mheg5 work?

Laurus has an approved STB on the list of Saorview approved equipment, so it should OK.

If your TV has an integrated digital tuner then you dont need a set top box, the cable from aerial just goes into the back of the TV.

I have tested two of these Lidl Laurus LR605-CI since the 2nd of August 2012. One box hung up completely today 15-10-2012 after the sound deteriorated slowly over a few weeks. I replaced it with an exact similar model which is working fine off the same aerial.

My TV has a digital tuner but it couldn't find any channels.

This is my TV - about 5-6 years old.

Should I be able to receive the Irish channels?

According to this post any Philips TV with model no. ending with D is not compatible with Saorview - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=81146765&postcount=390
