old iol email account

    I want to remove my first ever email account,is it Vodaphone who own iol now?or how is the best way to go about this?

    Phone them and ask, tbh though they probably won't do it, just delete the settings from outlook/thunderbird or whatever and forget about it!

    IOL is still owned by BT Ireland.

    Not really, no. ;)
    In 2009 BT Ireland withdrew from retail telecommunications and transferred retail operations, along with IOL's former subscribers, to Vodafone Ireland.

    IOL is still owned by BT. It was the customer portfolio that was purchased by Vodafone, not the company.
    Let me clarify, IOL email services are still owned and managed by BT Ireland.

    And they're doing a good job...

    I once got an IOL Gold account for 1 year free, bundled with the old Information Age machine... never paid them a penny since but still enjoying my Gold member status. :D
