I have just started a new job and my boss mentioned setting up a pension with the company. is this compulsory? i never heard of it before i'm only 28. do i have to? i only plan to stay with this company for circa 9 months and then i wish to move to sweden. if its a must, what percent of my monthly pay would be going into it?

He is obliged by law to offer you the option of participating in their scheme.

Why don't you at least find out the details of the scheme, and then make a decision based on whether it's worth your while or not. Often it's not if you're there less than a year or two, but it's worth finding out what the employer contribution is, and what it would take for you to keep it.

"Only 28" isn't actually that young in terms of starting to save for retirement. And you will probably need a pension, no matter what country you retire in.
