Extraction Vs Root Canal

Hey guys looking for some advice / experience / stories on this. About 3 weeks ago I got a filling that turned out to be a deeper one than the dentist originally thought, long story short its too deep, irritating the nerve. Went back today for a review because its quite sore and was given these options, Root Canal or Extraction.

The dentist wouldn't recommend a single treatment and instead gave me this info on both. Oh FYI its a molar on the bottom, 2nd molar from the back.

Root Canal: about €850 inc cost of Crown that will be needed. 4 trips to the chair (2 for root canal, 2 for crown) for about 2hrs a pop and 75% - 80% chance of complete success.

Extraction: about €150. 1 trip for about 40 mins and well once its out it cant get infected again!

I'm leaning towards extraction as its cheaper, faster and "sorted once and for all" but worried about the gap. Its not visible really when I smile or whatever but still. Any advice? The money is a bit of an issue for me but I can work around it if its the best option.

850 for a molar root canal and crown is incredibly little, extraction is a slippery slope also as the more back teeth you loose to more load is on the front teeth leading to wear and tipping and drifting problems.

You have to decide for yourself is you are happy to have body parts removed, mobody else can make that decision for you.
