Working Towards Accreditation

    Hi all,

I have a query regarding working towards accreditation after finishing an M.A in Psychotherapy.

My partner and I are both looking at the possibility of leaving Ireland for a few years - perhaps indefinitely.

Ideally we would like to leave immediately after I finish the M.A, but as yet I am unsure of the constraints involved in working towards accreditation.

I would appreciate any info that folks here might have on the issue.

Can I work towards accreditation in the U.K/Australia/New Zealand etc?

    Any input appreciated.

    Thanks a million.

Who are you looking to be accredited with?

Is that body affiliated with a European body, and does it accredit to European standards?

For example, the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (and its member organisations, including NACBT) is affiliated to the European Council for Psychotherapy and so accreditation with ICP is up to ECP standards. Ditto with IABCP, which is affiliated with the EABCT. (I really only know about CBT bodies.)

Generally a European standard accreditation would hold some credibility internationally, but don't be too surprised if you have to do some extra hoop-jumping, or even exams.

    Hi there,

Sorry I should have been more specific.

I intend seeking accredditation with IAHIP and/or IACP.

Thanks a million for the info.
