I have rented out my apartment to a friend while i rent a bigger house myself.
I haven't gotton around to registering with the prtb as i thought all i had to worry about was paying tax on rent at the end of the year and I still had time for that.
I just found out yesterday that I am not entitled to my 30% mortgage interest relief now that it is no longer my PPR.
What kind of fines/punishment can I get if revenue find out that I have been claiming the 30% before I get the chance to register?

    Soooooooooo

Is it worth it to lie.

    Hmmmmmm tax evasion advice,

    Not here good Sir,

what can they do? Charge you for for the incorrectly claimed relief, interest and penalties.

Of course now if you had a utility bill in your name that showed you were stlll living there......
