I know you're entitled to tax back on flights if you don't use them as I've gotten it from Aer Lingus before but is it possible to get it back from Ryanair and if so how would you go about it? I know their customer service dept is pretty much non-existent, what's the best way to contact them? Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, I've just seen they charge a €20 "admin fee" which wipes out any potential refund. I should've known they'd find a way to make sure you got nothing back out of a cancelled flight.

are you sure they don't automatically refund you? I think we got ours back automatically before, but that may have been Aerlingus.

Yep, Michael himself hand delivers it to your address, along with a small box of chocolate for your troubles. :p

Thanks, they actually have a link for Ryanair passengers which states that it's virtually impossible to get any taxes back from a Ryanair flight because of their admin fee. As it happens I'm now gona use the flight again so it's fine, thanks for the replies.

Wouldn't it be a great haul for the taxman if they just specified that all taxes collected for peoples flights that they never took had to be either given back to the customer or handed to the govt.

Afterall it was collected for the govt. Airlines just steal it when there is no flight taken.

strange that u can even get tax back. seeing as you have already bought the ticket included tax, the tax should go to the government even if u dont take the flight

Try this, you never know your luck.

Be careful you use the right "reason for a refund"
by clicking on the drop down menu at the top.

The Irish Govt travel tax is 3 euro.

All other charges/fees are not taxes, though they may be decribed as taxes.
