You will get it back. I signed up one year (I will again) and earned over 500 quid doing it.

Plenty of people on boards have got work out of them but others have not - you pay the money and take a risk I guess. Personally I wouldn't hand over a penny but maybe that just because I'm a mean bastard.

    Hi

    Derek here from MovieExtras.ie.

To clarify the original question made by Sixpack, no, we are not a recruitment agency. We provide a directory of artists to the Film and TV Industry. Similar to the Golden Pages or online directories, people pay to put up their details onto our directory. There are over 600 production companies and casting directors registered who can search the database to offer opportunities to our members. While some people won't get chosen for a role, others can do very well. We have members who have had over 250 payroll records, while others have earned in excess of €3,000 being involved in an advert.

We do not guarantee work, as it will be dependent on what people are required for the various productions. Our aim is to get as many productions using our directory whether they cast themselves or use our casting services.

Since we have launched our members have been involved in over 1,200 productions.

    Hope this clarifies your question.

Feel free to PM me with any other questions or clarifications.

    Thanks
    Derek

Thats fine. Also what percentage of people get work ? & can you get refund after the year if you don't get called as an extra

    Hi Sixpak

MovieExtras.ie is a directory, thus production companies and casting directors can recruit people dirctly without having to let us know, thus it is not possible to know who gets offered work. Over the last 12 months there have been over 74,000 views of members CV's through 1,746 logins by casting directors and production companies.

If someone has not recevied any work during the year, we will not refund the membership but we do try and sort something out for them depending upon the circumstances.

    Cheers
    Derek

Was it fun. I have always wanted to be on the background of movie sets. But I have a friend who worked as a daily? or extra and he said it was mostly sitting around waiting. What did you work on.
