Hi Banie01, firstly I am sorry for you loss.

I was reading through your post and even though I haven't lost a partner like you have, I have lost people close to me. What happened to you the other day will always happen, you lost a person that you shared a lot of your life with, of course you are going to think about this person and I think your new girlfriend will understand this. You wont be able to wipe away the memories you made with your Kate and nor should you try wipe away the memories and I am sure that your girlfriend wouldn't want that to happen either.

I think anyone who has lost someone close to them would understand your post. Just the other day the same thing happened me, I lost my gran a good few years ago, I know its not the same as a wife but it was still someone very close, and I got a new phone and I was transferring numbers from my old phone to my new phone and also having a cull of numbers while doing it, when my grans number came up and I couldn't delete it, even though I will never ever call the number again and it also brought a tear to my eye when I was thinking about her.

OP, I bet as other people respond they will tell you this is normal, I think if I was your girlfriend I would be more worried if this didn't happen, just as long as it wasn't all the time, as that would indicate that you have not moved on but I think from your post that you have moved on but things like this are going to happen, usually when you hear a song, movie or smell that you shared with your late wife. This to me is normal.

Good luck with your relationship. :)
