Just had to share , Played a round today, was joined by a gentleman who had the most incredible way of going about playing a golf shot.
Firstly he addressed the ball (everytime)at a full 90 deg to his intended target,i mean if we stood on the left side of the tee box , he put his club behind the ball facing us, which had us a little scared.
From here he would gradually shuffle to the leftwhile waggling the club , until he was at 45 deg to target and the with the strongest grip ive ever seen and a cackhanded grip did a half swing and made a half decent contact on the ball (most of the time) and sent it in the general direction of the hole:confused: Really wanted to film him, but decided it would have been rude.Decided against asking him about it either as didnt want to put him off his game.
Im not claiming to have a textbook swing myself,or not trying to make fun
but Just couldnt help thinking - Jesus! the games hard enough without starting off aiming at the wrong side of the tee box every time!!
He did exactly the same with his putting also, Bizarre!!
More than one way to skin a cat i suppose, anyone else witnessed
any,' really out there' ways of getting the club on the ball??:):)

There's a lad in the society I play with who has a swing I can't fathom at all. He addresses the ball as normal, takes the club back as normal, then pauses at the top and starts to lean backwards on his heels. Just as he is about to fall back he then swings through the ball and generally plays a solid enough fade. Think he is about a 15 handicap.

Maybe its hard to visualize it as I'm describing it,but its a pretty strange sight to behold & I still don't know how he manages to make a consistent contact

I used to play with a guy who managed to hit himself on the opposite side of his head everytime he used his driver!!! No joking, his shaft would hit the top right hand side of his head every time. This amounted to 14 slaps of the shaft of his driver to the head every round. As you might imagine he was fairly sh**e but then again it's hard to play proper golf when you're concussed!

I often wonder hoe guys end up with such odd swings, i know a lot of guys have the bad habits before they go to a pro but if they watched a swing on TV or even got a mate to give they a few tips on stance they would end up with something like a golf swing.
I play a bit with a guy practice swing looks great he looks like a low handicapper. When he hits the ball he actually jumps back half way thru the stroke.

Strangest swing I've ever seen was from a young enough chap during a hail and thunder/lightening delay when we let an enthusiastic four ball through. The first three of the group teed it up and hit solid shots with conventional honed swings until the fourth member broke the mould.

Taking driver on one of the par 5s he aligned himself at 45 degrees to his intended target, took the club back way inside with a severely bent left elbow more or less wrapping himself up with the club until the club head was beyond parallel and then swung through the ball. Kind of like an exaggerated version of Eamon Darcy's swing but with more knees and elbows and poorly aligned but the real icing on the cake was that he didn't focus on the ball but instead followed the club head with his eyes/head throughout the back swing. I don't know for the life of me how he managed to hit or even see the ball not to mind breaking his neck but he was consistent in his routine. We'd a hard time trying not to laugh and his playing partners commented that they were equally as perplexed how he hit the ball.

Fair Point, and i genuineley didnt start this thread to mock the man i played with, because at the end of the day if you can repeat whatever it is you do then thats all that matters.
But the effort that went into his preshot routine had him sweating and trembling before he even pulled the trigger!
Just feel for his own sake a lesson or 2 would make his life a lot easier!!

I didnt think my swing was too bad, but when i arrived on the first tee last sunday and took 5 or 6 practice swings while waiting for the group ahead to move on,my 3 playing partners all started laughing:(
