i am having issue with sound on my tv,i know the speakers are on the way out, so im gonna get a surround system to replace the speakers on my tv,

my question is this, my tv has a usb port which i play movies from. but if i play movies from it the sound still comes from the tv speakers not the surround sound ones.

also this is the surround sound system i am interested in,

According to the specs on Philips site the USB can be used for media playback, the only popular format it does not list is MKV, it lists all others as compatible, Divx, AVI, MP4 etc. Should be fine for you.
