focus turbo blowing hissing noise

    well as said above i already changed both the pipes coming and going into the turbo on top at fourty euro each both the old ones had holes on them but its still hissing or blowing somewere and the car is just not as rapid as normal what do u think anything else it could be

    Is the wastegate stuck open? A boost pressure test is probably the best course of action.

    what would it be doing if it was a wastegate problem the car sounds the same but when u let her at it she goes not to bad but just not right then there is the loud hissing sound and u know she is not getting away right thanks for your replie

    Did you check for any play on the turbos shaft?

    Did you check the rubber hose from the air filter housing to the turbo intake? They can split and give the symptoms you describe.

    not sure were or what that is thats not the 2 rubber hoses i was on about earlier is it?

    +1 especially is she's making a bit more smoke that usual (unburnt fuel). Check for loose clips on the hoses.

    No I think the 2 hoses you are talking about are the 2 that are on either side of the intercooler. I am talking about the air intake hose between the airbox and the turbo, the airbox is the black rectangular thing beside the battery.

    went out there to check george but couldnt see to wellbut didnt seem to be split thats the big wide pipe coming from the box i will check better tomorrow evening and the car isnt really smoking

    If it is split then it will most likely be down out of sight closer to the turbo where the pipe is narrower.

    There's another small hose that I've seen split on these. It's a short 90 degree "elbow bend" that connects to the inlet manifold on the top/rear of the engine.

    Mine gave similar symptoms. Used to be down on power on and off. Never quite got to the bottom of it.
