This is the cycling adverts sub-forum, you might have had a better reaction if you had posted in the main cycling forum here.

Looking at the spec I would say its a decent entry level road bike, nothing special but nothing particularly wrong with it either.

I personally think it's a very nice looking bike.

Padded shorts are a must, along with a jersey that has pockets in the back to carry a banana and a peanut butter sandwich!

And don't be getting snotty with us or you'll get no more advice!! :p

You know we're not actually obliged to advise you on your purchases. It's not as if we're receiving any sort of commission.

Possibly, possibly not. Do you have a link to the spec sheet of the merida?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 723 ✭✭✭soap1978

i am now thinking of going for the halford bike for 378 euro,a friend said its a great bike and is as good as the ride lite 91,anyone know if it is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

doubt it. you tend to get what you pay for. but without any further info besides "the halfords bike for 370", which I personally couldn't be arsed trying to find, you won't get much advice

You were originally looking/interested in a bike at €750, why are you now considering a bike half that price? Anyway for the price that Carrera seems pretty decent. If it suits your needs then go for it. Remember to allow another few hundred for helmet, clothing, rain gear, etc etc

    what about the trek 1.1?
