You don't need high specced lappy.

Keep it very simple, I'd say this unit would do the trick.

    www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/HP_Pavilion_G6-1391ea_1163435.html

I3 sandy bridge cpu, decent ram and storage space.

Just a quick question, why HP?

    Thank you, you wonderful person:):)

I have always used HP and it's the brand my college uses most frequently too so I'm hooked! It's an addiction:o:(:)

Jarren, I like the look of that laptop, but to my untrained eye, I am unsure whether it is the same as this one:

    http://www.littlewoodsireland.ie/hp-g6-1309sa-amd-a4-6gb-ram-640gb-hard-drive-156-inch-laptop/1066695826.prd?browseToken=%2fb%2f4294957934%2c4873%2fs%2fbestsellers%2c0%2fr%2f48&trail=4739-4873-4294957934

    What memory should I look for? 4gb, 6gb? Or 500GB? Actually, I don't really know what I'm talking about:pac: I don't know what GBs are:o

    Thank you:):)

The laptop you linked has a very slow cpu - Central processing unit
For your needs you will probably need only 4 GB RAM - is a form of computer data storage.
As for the hard disc you will most likely require min 320GB - is a device for storing and retrieving digital information, primarily computer data.

GB stands for gigabyte - it's a multiple of the unit byte for digital information storage.

Enough of the tech lingo :D

I bought that on St. Stephen's Day for €499 in PCWorld...

Runs very hot also, 85C isn't uncommon.

Clean the air intake pathways and make sure the fan is clean and working properly.

Usually does the trick to decrease the temp.

If you have a budget of 750 Euro, get a 3rd generation Core i7 quad. Anything slower is an utter waste of money in this price range.

    ^^^^
Find me a HP laptop with Ivy 7 generation cpu for 750 Euros please ?

For college work and casual browsing spending so much money is just not neccessary .

Agreed, but if someone wants to spend 750 yoyos why not buy the best performance for the money? ;)

And "college work" can involve anything up to complex 3D rendering or video editing, no? ;)

This could be said from taking the notes to running something much more sophisticated.

OP can only tell us what type of college work she had in mind.

    Over to you OP:D
