Taking into consideration buying a second-hand gaming PC, seeing as my budget has gone down considerably.

Just looking for a brief opinion/summary on these two, if they're worth the price, if they're up to date, etc.
    Found these on Donedeal

    First one
    http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/pc/3405669

    Specifications:

    - Antec 1200 Gaming Case (Black)

    - Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Power Supply

    - Asus Crosshair II Formula nForce 780a SLI (Socket AM2)

    - AMD Phenom X4 Quad Core 9950 2.60GHz (at) 2.80GHz (Socket AM2)

    - HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5

    - Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 XMS

    - LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray Reader & HD-DVD

    - Western Digital 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache

    - Windows XP Professional x64 Edition 64-Bit

    (Windows 7 Ultimate installed)

    - Asus Silent Knight AL CPU Cooler

    Price €550

    Second one
    http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/pc/3654051

    Specifications:
CPU Amd Phenom II X4 945 at 3.3Ghz

    Motherboard: Asus M4A79XTD

    Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus

    GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6870

    RAM: 4GB Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz

    HDD: WD 500GB Blue 5400rpm

    PSU: 560W Generic

    Optical: Sony CD/DVD Drive

    Case: Antec 900

    OS: Windows 7 64 bit

    Price: €500

    Thanks.

Edit: Both these PC's come with just the tower. No mouse/keyboard/monitor. Which isn't too much of a problem.

If you're looking for a gaming PC, it's really a no-brainer. the HD 6870 is a lot faster and Dx11 compliant.

If you're a movie buff, the BR drive and 1 TB HDD might be more appealing though.

    Yeah, the second for sure.

    I'd say the second, sound.

    Just one question.
Would any of ye think it would be a safe enough sale buying the whole thing over Donedeal.?
With all the ripping-off and what-not over the internet.

    Agree

None of those pc's are worth that 500 euro.

You can build a new one with warranty etc and even more performance for only a little more, maybe even around the same price.

Head over here OP, lads there will help you out.Very knowledgeable bunch.

I know what you're saying though.
This is my thread from yesterday, on the PC-building forum.

But since then my budget has dropped considerably, I'd be lucky if I scraped together €500 now :(

How much would that second PC be worth anyway, in your opinion?

It'd be a lot handier and cleaner to just get the second-hand built one, so I won't have to buy a 'prebuilt' shop one, yano?
And it has a set-price, whereas if I was to order parts and everything, god knows how high it'd run.

With "Generic PSU" mentioned in the second one wouldn't inspire confidence, a bad PSU can take the whole system down with it (like any PSU could, but Generic ones are statistically more likely to be problematic), I would deffo go the build route, just ask the lads for a cheaper build. Remember you can always upgrade it later on when funding will allow. Dont skimp on the psu ;)

    I get you.
    The cons outweigh the pros.
Had a think about it myself, and to be honest, I'd feel a lot safer building my own.

Even though I'm fairly unconfident about what components to get.
I'd probably need a fair amount of help deciding on them anyway.

Unfortunately then I'll have to wait til I get a bit more money and get a proper built idea. :(

    Thanks lads.

I'd probably pick the first just coz of the PSU (AM2 is an old socket now, no upgradeability there), tbh your probably best off going the Intel CPU route also, better bang for buck/performance these days. Don't rush into it unless you need one yet, ask over on the pb&u thread about 500~ builds, you'll put together an alright machine for that, just choose a cheaper GPU and you can upgrade later on

I'll probably look out for some €500 builds and upgrade in the future, or save up for a better bang for my buck.

I won't rush into it anyway, cause I want to get something I'll be happy with in the long-run.

    Thanks man.
