50Hz? Why do they make sure a big, decent TV like this with 50Hz?

Paid €630 for a 40" version of of this with 100HZ a month ago. In law bought a 32" version of this with 50Hz for €380 too.

Might suit somebody who doesnt need a super resolution but wants a smart, decent TV.

This TV appears to be a real bargain.

TV broadcasts are 50Hz. Sets that quote higher refresh frequencies, not resolution, are using various processing techniques to refresh the screen more quickly. This is only apparent, if at all, with fast moving scenes, such as some sports. The refresh frequency is NOT a reliable guide to a TVs motion performance.

1080p is the highest resolution currently available, outside of some extremely high end sets, which have not yet been launched in the market. There are very few HD Tv broadcasts at this resolution, most are 1080i, or less.
According to the BBC, the first time super high definition TV, higher than 1080p, will be broadcast in the UK is at the Olympics this year.

    Anything above 100hz l
On a LCD/led looks hillarous the sets look way to fake and the motion makes it look like it was filmed on a cam corder.

I think this is too good to be true. See the other thread on the sony laptop, same deal crowd and same provider.

Here is a comment from someone using the provider via a uk deal crowd...

    Would seem to be allright.
The same tv is for sale on Pixmania for 950 euro.
The EX524 which is the same model but for built in wifi won a Best Buy award off Which magazine last year in the mid range tv section.
Mid range Sony tvs are not cheap.
Its only a 50hz tv but a very good one ,very little motion blur.
    If genuine,its a steal.
