Informal date scenario. Of a Saturday.
Preferably, but not limited to, the Cashel area.
Racking my brains (no luck there), and the internet...
I'm not from the area, so I thought I'd get some local knowledge.

Cahir Castle? Less than 15 mins from Cashel. Can also walk down to the Swiss Cottage/Around the Inch Field.

    I love this town!!

Athassel Abbey near Golden is a really lovely place for a picnic. Depends if there are cows in around it though. Also the top of Knockgraffon Motte would be nice for a picnic too.

If your into hill walking or like mountain views check out this web site http://www.clogheen.net/
It's kept up to date and has loads of info on walks.

Check out the see and do section as well

Also if you do find your self around the Clogheen area check out this The Mitchelstown caves/. Dont be put off by the name. The cave's are about 5k from Clogheen and only 1K from Burncourt(and about 15k from Mitchelstown!)

Also in Burncourt there is the Glengarra woods which is a nice walking/picnic area. Some pictures here

Walking through the wilderness where the Clonmel to Thurles railway used to run through is truly magical.

A walk from Treacy Park along by the bank of the river Suir towards Clonmel up to Dove Hill/Castle and you come out at the Blarney Woolen Mills.

Have you ever done this walk yourself?

A walk around Fethard Town is very nice, lots of historic buildings to see.

The Glen of Aherlow is lovely too or if your feeling energetic, a climb of the Galtees from Galbally, Aherlow or the Ballyporeen side is a great day out.
A hike up to Lake Muskery is a much shorter and easier climb.

An exploration in around Cashel is great + a visit to the Rock

Yes the wilderness in Clonmel is a magical area, plenty of wild birds on the natural pond bordered by lovely wild flowers and plants. This is an entrance area to where the old Railway line from Clonmel to Thurles runs through. It's both magical and mystical to children and adults alike. Evidence of where rock blasting was done to construct the railway line is of great interest. Natural springs clearly to be seen, no wonder Glenpatrick Spring Water company is located just a couple of hundred meters south of the Wilderness.

The remains of railway platform which served Clonmel races are also to be seen here.
