    Hi all,

I have been riding the defy 3 as an entry level bike and wanted to upgrade slightly. Unfortunatly my defy was stolen recently so the budget I have isnt great. I am wondering if anyone had any suggestions for something in and around the 1300 mark that is good value for what you are getting.

I had a look online at the defy 1 and the spec looks good at first glance but Im wondering if anyone with more knowledge on bikes could send me in the right direction or confirm my selection.

I will be using the bt work scheme so second hand or shops outside dublin arent an option unfortunately.

How about this? You can't go wrong with 50% off.

Drab, dreary looking aul yoke though innit. I'd certainly favour more style for my 1000 euro if it was me.

That's just a restriction by your employer, BTW. The government scheme allows you to buy the bike from any shop in the world.

I think I will keep it simple and just go with the employer scheme. Still leaves me with what to buy in that price range. Basically what are the best value bikes for under 1300. The reason I looked at the defy 1 is the 105 set up it looks good value and weight wise its only 8.3 I think. But I am no expert on bikes so if there is something else thats better value I would appreciate the advice.

Will you be leaving it in the same location where the previous one was stolen? Factor in some decent security too, don't skimp on locks!

The bike was secured and in a place where you would have to climb to get to so thanks for the advice but it wasnt the sort I was looking for. Any guidance on bikes in the range would however be appreciated, my security knowledge is up to date.

Noddy69. What about a Focus? Have a look at this one http://eurocycles.com/ie/product/focus/variado-1-0-cp-20g-magic-black might be worth a look. Had a Focus myself for 3 years and loved it, nice solid bike, not the lightest and the ride can be a little harsh but it never let me down and I managed to sell it on for a good price too.

Ta ill see can I take it for a spin out at the shop, along with some others if they let me.
