    Hi Guys,

To complete an Ironman race, just what does it take?

What type of training, eating and how to juggle all this with a 9 to 5 job?

Do you need a team behind you?

    Extremely interested in this

    Any comments appreciated

    Gary

To complete? As long as you are time agnostic and can swim 3.8km in < 2 hours its not difficult to complete an ironman* You just need to get out and swim bike and run lots and be prepared for a long day in the office!

*provided age and health are on your side

Suppose what I was trying to say was that if a 16:59 will do you then the training isn't as scary as one might think.

    Previous thread on the topic....

To quantify your question, Don Fink's "Just Finish" training plan, peaks @ 10hrs per week, which should be doable for most folks...

Disciplined training, targeted and planned for whatever your finish aim is.

Regular training, with a plan behind it. Eat normally. Get up early, it should not interfere with your work at all if you are smart about your use of time.
Do you need a team behind you?
    No.

The training is not just about getting your body ready. Its about getting your head ready too, and knowing what nutrition works for you. Both are crucial elements.
