Social Welfare Controlling and Watching

Just wondering about people's civil liberties and privacy when it comes to social welfare and job seekers allowance. I recently discovered that I am being targeted by a social welfare inspector who has followed me around town while driving my car and even stopped me one morning while walking my child to school. I made a complaint about it to the inspectors supervisor but was told the inspector was only doing their job. It all seems far fetched, the stalking and following of a person who is jobless. Is there any protection for members of the public from this type of behaviour. Its more serious when their following you when your taking your child to school. I never asked to be unemployed in the first place. Horrible situation.
