Is it possible to add a story to a one story extension, the current extension is approx 10-15 years old, and is situated at gable end of house, on a cornet site, (so ext not near another house)

In general are the foundations for a 1 story good enough to support an additional storey ?

that question can only be answered by a site inspection to see what is there.

It's likely that you will be able to add a floor to your extension, but sydthbeat is correct, you will need a site inspection to confirm. I would suggest you contact a structural engineer to call out to your house. S/he will need to see the foundations. To save time & money, ask him or her what they will need to see before they come out. You could do the digging yourself!

I'm not an engineer, but can suggest someone if you PM me. Should cost around €200
