Another Punk/Autograph Signing Incident

As noted earlier today, there was an incident Sunday night at St. Louis International Airport involving WWE Champion CM Punk and a fan.

As Punk arrived to the airport from Omaha, Nebraska, a fan asked him for an autograph and was turned down. We don’t know the story behind it other than the fan may have been rude in his approach. This led to another fan yelling at Punk and causing a scene, which culminated with Punk throwing the man’s autograph book in a garbage can.

Airport police immediately encountered Punk and the man, with Punk appearing very annoyed at having his time wasted. Other WWE talent were asking fans if they knew “the fat guy”—the man whose book Punk threw in the garbage can. Punk then went on Twitter and made a mention of “unacceptable behavior” and “one person ruins it for everyone. He also thanked all the respectful fans at the airport and noted that he just doesn’t like rude people.

We hope to have more on this shortly. Stay tuned.

Yet another negative story about Punk. He must sell a **** load of merchandice to have kept the title this long.

Sorry but punks had a few minor incidents with fans i cant see what that has to do with him still having the title..

I saw him and Ricardo talking about it on Twitter, and it seemed to be that the fan just rubbed the wrestlers (plural, not just Punk) up in a really bad way.

Punk refuses to take sh*t from idiotic fans it nothing if you compare that to failing drug tests like orton who will be champion again even if he fails for the 3rd time (which normally ends in termination)

You don't seem to have the first clue about the situation. This is the weirdo who bothered him:

We don't know the circumstances in which Punk refused to sign for the guy,he could've been rude/annoying to Punk.Him throwing the lads autograph book in the bin sounds hilarious though, hopefully a YT vid surfaces of it!

Punk is the face of the company and continues to get bad press in relation to meeting fans. Considering how self conscious the WWE is, I'm surprised they havent done anything yet. He must sell a ton of merchandise to make them think it's worth a bit of bad press on a seemingly monthly basis.

When is the last time Cena had issues with a fan in public? It doesnt happen but it happens with Punk probably once a month.

This guy is not a fan, he is a stalker.

Tbh, it always seems justified to me with Punk; maybe Cena grins and bears the idiots, but they shouldn't have to. If a fan is being an ***hole, then they shouldn't get to be rewarded for it...

Maybe he's uptight because he's apart of some amazing angle tonight and doesn't want to feck it up.

Cenas one of the few who RARELY get into trouble most recents was when he got in trouble for homophobic comments on twitter (i think it was towards Cole?)

Ok you are just going to ignore the circumstances of a situation which fellow fans and wrestlers who took Punk side on uniformly.

Just say you don't like Punk. At least you will be honest.

It's the opposite. I like Punk quite a lot. It would be different if it was a one off thing, but it happens fairly regularly for Punk. If you want to be the face of the company, this is what you have to put up with. Acting like an asshole isnt going to change that.

In fairness the topic title is misleading the problems are more with the autograph seeker than Punk.

Sounds like Punk doesn't take any **** in real life either, which fits in well with his onscreen persona. I'd much prefer that to happy Cena which often comes across as fake. I prefer famous people who appear to have some personality rather than the ones who hide it to please the publicists. A much better fit with some of the superstars of the past, too.

I've got 2 words about this thread and the non-story in general, Who cares.

Aside from the fact that the guy in question here is a complete wierdo, the notion that fans feel they have a god-given right to 24/7 access WWE superstars (or other sportsmen/celebs) is ridiculous. They do crazy amounts of travel and have the right to be left alone at airports if thats what they want to do. I know I'd get fairly fed up of socially awkward over weight goons in bad t shirts hassling me if I was having to go through all the sh*te that airports entail 200 nights a year.

    Rogers right,

I saw Deirdre from Corrie shopping in NEXT while on a trip to Manchester. I didn't see a need to hassle her, it was her own time like ;-)

In fairness, all stories I've heard of Punk are that if you're courtious and mannerly, and make sure you approach him at appropriate times, he's more than happy to sign autographs and the likes. Which, to be blunt, is the way it should be.

But I know I remember him telling a story where he was half asleep and a guy came up and took his earphones out and started asking for an autograph. If someone did that to me, I'd tell them to **** off as well....

Not Surprised about Punk Being upset in an airport, after all He said on Colt Cabana's Paaadcast:
"If you're waiting for me in an Airport at 4:30 in the morning, I'm Not gonna sign for you. These are the guys who are at every airport and try to pedal this stuff on ebay and use their children. If you see me with headphones on or reading a book don't bother me!"
(That's loosely quoted but you get the jist of it!)

When approaching me in public, do not be rude.Say please. Introduce yourself.Have manners. Be considerate. Otherwise you'll be disappointed.

    Seems fair enough to me...

110% fair enough. Like what are these guys expecting if you just shove an autograph book under Punk's nose or anybodys far for that matter. Bit of common decency and treat people nice and you'll get places. If your walking through yet another airport late at night after possibly a bumpy flight or whatever and someone walks up out of the blue and expects you to be "on" it's just not going to happen. I know I couldn't do it.
