Triax SR110 Set top Box

    Hi,

2 Questions for anyone out there with a Triax SR 110 box.

    (a) When installing new channels, what is the significance of the TP Index.
When I install new channels ( from the Boards listing ) the frequency ( 10803 ) and the Rate ( 22000) are fine but then Boards lists 2/3 or 5/6, whereas my index is like 2/100.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    (b) If I do a complete retune, will I get the channels that are at present listed as "Manual Tuning" ?.
Is this the easiest way to go ?

    All Suggestions/info appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jay

The TP index refers to the list of transponders stored on the box not the FEC forward error correction rate ie 2/3,
As far as I remember the triax tunes without entering the FEC

Retuning / adding new channels to the Triax SR 110 sat receiver
(example shown ch5, please visit http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html for up to date frequencies)
    > to retune the box press menu> DOWN TO PIC OF SATELLITE DISH> press ok >
    > password 1959 OR 0000 >
    > TP SCAN> press ok >
    > ENTER THE FOLLOWING using the remote >
    > TP FREQUENCY 10964
    > SYMBOL RATE 22000 ks/s
    > POLARITY H
    > SCAN MODE FREE >
    > down to SEARCH press OK (box will scan in CH5 etc, and some other
    > channels) >
    > press BACK couple of times to exit. CH5 will be at end of channel
    > list ie above BBC 1, >
    > you may delete the old BBC News via the channel list screen, press 5 edit
    > password 1959 or 0000 then press 1 when on the channel you want to delete.
    > you may move channels about by pressing 2 when in list mode,

    Hi,

    Thanks for the info.
I still do not know what the TP index does.
If I try to input a new channel, while scanning up and down the list, the TP index also changes.
This affects the tuning of other channels, but I'm not sure how/why.

Any ideas on complete retune ?

    Jay

The TP index is simply a list of the preset settings stored in your box. So when you see 1/100 it is the preset figures for transponder number 1 of a list of 100. 5/100 would be the preset list number 5 of 100. These lists are unique to your box and therefore meaningless to anyone else. If you added another set of transponder figures you would now have 1/101. Does any of that make sense?

edit: I wouldn't advise a complete retune as you will get literally 100's of rubbish channels to wade through and delete.

    Hi Garry,

    Thanks for the info.
If I want to add a new channel what number should I select 5/100, 12/100 etc. ? and why ?

Sorry for the lack of understanding.

    Thanks

Have you tried reading the manual? I don't have that make of box so can't give you a blow-by-blow guide.

    Try this :-

    Hi,

Yes I have read the manual, however this issue is not covered,
    but your contribution is appreciated.

Anyone out there with a Triax SR 110, who knows how this issue works.

    thanks

When you're in the tp menu, are there not options to add or delete tps, rather than editing what is already there? Might be selectable via number keys.

    Hi,

    Not that I can see.
Problem is that to add a new channel, you take the frequency ( ie 11261) and the rate (ie 27500), but depending on which TP Index you use, you may or may not get a result when you do a scan. In fact some scans result in loosing already programmed channels.

It shouldn't be such a lottery.
There is obviously a reason/result in using one TP index rather than another, and that is what I am trying to work out.

    Any input would be welcome.

    Thanks

I don't have a Triax SR110, but the receiver & its menus look very similar to the Comag boxes sold by the likes of Lidl, though this isn't to say they're exactly the same.

With the Lidl receivers, when you go into 'tp scan' & highlight 'tp index', pressing 1 allows you to add a tp, 2 to delete a single tp & 3 to delete all.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'using one tp index rather than another', you'd use the list for the particular satellite that your wanted channel is on.

As Peter says it looks identical to the Lidl / Comag boxes.
    Try :-
    MENU
    INSTALLATION
    ENTER PASSWORD (usually 0000)
    TP SCAN
    TP INDEX
PRESS BUTTON 1 (add, look at list bottom of screen)
ENTER VALUES, freq, s/r, H/V etc
    SEARCH
    SAVE

    Hi,
    To Garry & Peter,
That seems to be the solution.
I was not adding a new TP number.
What I was doing was overwriting existing TP's and that was why it did not work properly. It replaced existing channels with the new input channel.

    Thanks a lot.

    Jay.
