The Space - New Freesat on Demand Channel

Just tried out this new niche on-demand channel (Freesat 908) on the Humax and it's streaming without difficulty (some jittery audio aside).
Official announcement – Arts Council England (ACE) and Freesat are proud to announce that new digital arts service The Space is now available on Freesat Channel 908.

The on demand service, developed by ACE in partnership with the BBC, is a fantastic way for audiences to experience the arts, music and film during an extraordinary summer of culture in the UK.

Highlights available now include early films by Ridley Scott and Ken Russell from the BFI archive; the sold out performance of The Trojans from London’s Royal Opera House, an exclusive interview between Stephen Fry and Tracey Emin live from the Turner Contemporary and live full-length Shakespeare from The Globe Theatre’s incredible Globe to Globe series including a hip hop interpretation of Othello. The Space is not currently available to all Freesat homes in the UK but the aim is to reach all homes over time

From next Monday viewers will also be able to enjoy highlights from the London 2012 BT River of Music concerts featuring The Scissor Sisters, the Noisettes and a host of musicians from around the world performing on 6 international stages along the River Thames.

Fresh content is added to The Space every week.

Can we get this in Ireland?

I tried to get BBC iPlayer to work and it won't due to not being in the UK, so surely this will be the same?

Yep this works in Ireland, as does the ITV Player.

    BBC have Geo-locked the iPlayer.

    Thanks.

Never knew that ITV Player worked, just assumed it was same as BBCs player.

Anyway, ITV is very trashy TV imho, rarely watch it. Not into soaps, reality TV or celebs.

But might find something on The Space that would interest me.

Agreed, though occasionally something pops up on ITV2, 3 or 4 that's worth a watch.

Perhaps in Yemen or the Cook Islands, but it's available in Ireland as many on this forum have reported.

Comes through on my Humax without issue.

Just checked ITV player- geo locked for a PC on an Irish ISP using Google Chrome browser. (pop up detects a non UK location)

What clever trick is the Humax Box doing?

May not show up via a manual tune Peter, hardware dependent I guess.
As the service, along with BBC iPlayer and others, is delivered through a broadband internet connection, and is placed on the Freesat EPG via the "Freesat home transponder" for receivers to access, there is no transponder manual tuning details as such: if you have Freesat it will appear on the EPG, if you have a non-Freesat receiver (such as a Sky box) the service will not be available.
