I am starting a degree in Ucc as a mature student in sept all going well and I was wondering if people could share some advice in relation to getting relevant experience, is it common for undergraduates to be of use to the department other than the tuition fee's they provide?

If not what are my options in regard to gaining experience if any so early in my studies?
Is it possible to gain experience in a private practice or similar with the scoring of psychometric tests?

    All advice greatly appreciated.

Sadly as a first year student, you don't really have a chance. I did but that was a long long time ago and I was very lucky.
