My 1997 Mitsubishi Colt has finally died after 6 years of use. Below is what I'm looking at. Finding cars isn't the problem, its knowing how much I should be paying. If you have any experience with hatchbacks, reservations on anything below or advice on specific models then please send it this way. The Astra GTC is currently top of the list only because I like the look of it and I havnt heard of any horror stories. I've been memorizing Limerick Mans excellent guide on buying used cars. I don't know any mechanics but if there is a boardsie that comes highly recommended to check a car for a possible sale then send your services this way. Whats the going rate for checking a car?

    Year: 2006 up

    Type: 3/4/5 door hatchback

    Engine Size: 1.3 to 1.6

Colour: Preferably Black/Silver/Grey but would compromise on colour for high spec

    Price: €6,000 limit

Cars that have caught my eye: Opel Astra, Opel Astra GTC, Alfa Romeo 156/159, SEAT Ibiza/Leon, VW Golf,

Use: 40KM round trip weekdays, 300km round trip every second weekend.

    Location: Dublin

You're not lying! I worked in a Hyundai garage so it wasn't my first time seeing one or anything, there's just serious value out there in them at the minute.

The decision to buy was based on how good I think they are rather than the other way around.

That hasn't half the gear that her one has though but still..
