I have a question regarding Public Holiday Pay,

Now I know Im part time and don't have the same entitlements as everyone else in where I work, But Looking through citizensinformation.ie I found this page
    ( http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employment/employment_rights_and_conditions/leave_and_holidays/public_holidays_in_ireland.html )

and it states that if I work at least 40 hours in the 5 weeks before the public holiday and the public holiday falls on a day I'd normally work im entitled to a day's pay for the public holiday.

If I do not normally work on that particular day I should receive one-fifth of my weekly pay. Even if I usually get rostered to work on a public holiday.

The minimum I work in a week is 8 hours on a saturday.
    even so 8hours X 5 Saturdays = 40Hours & 8 hours is minimum I usually work more...

Anyone Have an Idea what I should do? should I be backpaid for what I haven't been paid for or am I just looking at this the wrong way?

    Thank you

How many public holidays did you work on Saturdays?

The situation may depend on what you do for the other 5 days .

If you are been paid SW benefit for the other 5 days , then the SW office will liase with your employer to decide who pays you for public holiday .

If you worked 40 hours in previous 5 weeks , you are entitled to public holiday pay by your employer .

Once you are been paid through normal paye system and receive payslip , then ask your wages office about holiday pay .
