I was reading an old thread about supplies and I saw a reference to two different Irish manufacturing websites www.ashtownpackaging.ie and www.alpack.ie and I was just wondering if anyone has used them in the past for buying fermentation bins and what prices they are (for example are they any/much cheaper)?

    I've bought stuff from both.
In my opinion, alpack has teh edge because they also sell swingtop brown beer bottles at around 1.25 each.

As far as i remember though they only had buckets up to 20 litres whereas ashtown packaging had 30 litre buckets and a lot more packaging generally but no bottles.

As for price,if i recall the 25 litre buckets were 6 euro each from ashtown.

I was in to that place recently to see if they had any PET bottles..they didnt but the guy seemed sure he could get them if there was sufficient demand..i will annoy him again about it soon!

    Interested in this too, thanks.
But how would you go about using an airlock in one of those buckets or do they sell fermenters with bung holes? Or do you just snap the lid on and that does the job?
Absolute beginner as you can probably tell :)
    Cheers

I contacted Ashtown Packaging and this is what they sent me.

"Many thanks for your reply we do have a minimum order value of £50.00
The pack quantity would be 17.
The selling price would be £3.25 each plus vat and a small delivery charge of £10.00
The total cost would be £78.30"

If you sent them an email it will be redirected to their main office in the UK.

oh dear. But if you could get a 30 litre food grade bin, what do you do about an airlock? Just do without it?
    Cheers

Ignore that..just call into the place and talk to the guy who owns it,cant remember his name but he'll sell individual items no problem.

Its right beside Lidl at the rondabout.

You can get a washer for the hole too to make it airtight.

Lemme know how you got on with ashtown..i reckon he might start getting more stuff in if he sees a market from homebrewers.
