    Hi all,
I am hoping to go collage this September and i have a few questions,
I am 30 years of age and i have been on a CE scheme for the past year, could i apply for the BTEA allowance? I have also applied for a grant from SUSI can someone explain to me (in the simplest form possible) what the difference between the two is?!
    Many thanks
    Lee.

BTEA you get 188 euro per week plus 300 book allowance

Grant you get a maintenance amount of one of the following amounts
    5,915 (special rate), 3,025, 2,375 (special rate), 2,270, 1,515, 1215, 910, 755, 605, 305 plus you generally get the student contribution fee of 2500 paid

You can get BTEA and a grant that just pays the 2500 fee

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I thought it pointless opening yet another on the BTEA.

(I would call the social welfare office only I am out of the country and it would cost me a fortune and I have emailed the department but it could take a while for them to get back to me)

I have been receiving the BTEA while on a Beng course at Queens Belfast. I have just finished year 2 and would be going into my final year in Sept. I have been offered onto the Meng course meaning I would have to another year added and would graduate with a Masters instead of a Batchelors. As this is still an undergraduate course will I be able to keep getting my BTEA. Im not sure I could finance it without it as a mature student with bills to pay also. Perhaps some of you have had this experience or are in the know...

Generally BTEA does not fund masters courses but I'm not really sure what the situation in your case is if it's still an undergrad.
