    Hey all..
Due to have 4 impacted teeth removed surgically under general anesthetic over the next few weeks....2 wisdom and 2 others all on the upper jaw. Just wondering what peoples post op experience was like? Was there much pain, will i need to take any time off work? Any help/advice would be appreciated ...

Surely the surgeon doing the procedure has gone through this with you? Did you go for a consultation?

All your questions willbe answered at the consult, the post operative care will depend on the teeth as will the post op experience. The ga will make you feel terrible for a day...

Sister is a dental nurse and she says wisdom teeth are much easier on the patient in the upper jaw than the lower jaw to remove. Hope it goes ok for you!

    Avoid smoking; it impairs healing.

Not that common to have four upper impacted teeth... can you see any of these teeth in the mouth? Are they fully up or partially up? Why do they need removal, infection/ decay/ other...??

Time off is usually advisable, how much depends on you and how impacted the teeth are and what job you do(2-5 days is sensible)

You should be given pain killers post op to control any discomfort....

Most people do not need a GA for wisdom tooth removal. It is a quicker, cheaper, safer and a more comfortable recovery under IV sedation.

    Good luck,
    OS
