I have this friend and for the most part he's grand but sometimes I dont like the sarcasstic and belittling comments that come out of his mouth, I dunno maybe it my own fault and I've put myself out there to be ridiculed at times by my actions but I just dont feel like I get the respect I deserve from this person, the other day I asked this person if he was familar with a pub in cork city that I hadn't heard of and he replied yea , its unreal, best pub ever. Now I know this may not sound like much but I've been getting these type of responses from him for a long time, I replied to him by saying that they say sarcassim is the lowest form of wit and his response was he has to use sarcassim to bring himself down to my level, im kinda sick of it to be honest. Actually to be honest I think its very prevelent it modern Irish soceity for some reason

Tell him where to go and find a new friend.
He's a misery guts so why do you need his approval or his attention?

You do know that sarcasm is the sharpest tool of a dull mind, don't you? ;)

I agree. Find yourself another friend.

Based on example your giving them yes I would say your overreacting and actually on this example made first smar. Comment. Of course its hard to tell but it does depend on tone etc. Some people use it to get along
But others are just plain hurtful. If you think latter then your right to stand up for yourself.

What have you got to loose from being upfront with him? It's annoying to the point you have re-evaluate your friendship - it might be worth taking him to one side and spelling that out to him.

It could just be he genuinely thinks he's being harmlessly funny.
