Social work and social care jobs
What is the job situation at the moment? Is this area being protected/more jobs coming up than other areas of the HSE due to the various controversies etc in the last few years.
I’m considering going down this route, but I’m wondering have recent grads etc been able to get work. What is the situation, honestly?
In other areas of the health system people with qualifications are not getting jobs, rather ‘applying’ for various work for free schemes, is it the same in social work and social care?
    Thank you.

First and foremost, please do you research as social care and social work are very different, require different training and are catered for by different organsiations and bodies. Just to get that out :)

I cannot speak for social care work, having left it a few years ago to train as a SW, and there is SW jobs in Ireland (many limited and contractual) and abroad.

Hi guys just wondering if there is anyone doing relief work in residential social care settings at the moment? Lookin for some info on wat it's all about...rights etc? :)

residential relief consists of providing a home like environment for those living in residential care, shopping, cooking and activities, outings etc. There would also be levels of personal care which you would be trained for. There are sleep overs so the money can be good.

i m concerned re cutback in HSE which have made social care employers unscrupulous and not looking after us! This is where we need professionalisation to protect workers.... ie in my organisation a job coach instructor position has become available.. however they have demoted the position to that of 'support worker'.... exact same job, exact same responsibilites.... but less pay, has anyone else come across the same?

If you want a job that is very stressful with low pay ...

I've worked in the healthcare industry in the past and been around many social workers ... burn out rate is high.

I see this, but i would like to hear what others have to say regarding my post... i mean a job coach job is an interesting job with inclusive ethos mainly dealing with low risk clients, employability not suitable for every client of a service. But demoting the position? Is this happening in other services....
