I run my own business from home, I use a Toshiba Satellite Pro with Intel i5 processor, model is L670 - 11D, its a bigger size laptop, 17.3". Its over 2 yrs old and I was thinking of buying a new model. Any suggestions for a new high end laptop, budget about 1000, same size screen?

Thanks Jarren, looks nice. I have never used that brand before, nor heard of them before, would generally prefer to buy a well known brand like Toshiba, Sony etc so I will do a bit more research firstly.....
    thanks!

The Dell Inspiron 5720 goes for €849 ex VAT.

Similar specs as the ASUS, same GT630M, but 6 GB RAM and a 1 TB HDD. Also ships with Windows 7 Professional rather than Home Premium.

A similarly specced SONY will set you back a bit further though... 1,149 Euro at Komplett.

ASUS are a well-known brand with the best reliability (see graph from 2ish years ago) and some of the offers are great value. I picked up one similar to the one in the link with no USB3, i5 and 1GB graphics for 2/3 the price.

    Why?

They're all buying their parts basically from the same place. when buying a brand like sony, you're paying extra for generally nothing but the sticker on the laptop at least with the apple premium you're being offered something tangible in the mac os apart from the shiny apple.
