Hi, my car is booked in for it's first NCT tomorrow and I've spent the weekend tearing the house apart looking for the vehicle registration cert with no luck.... would they still test the car without this?
I put it away somewhere safe when I bought the car 4yrs ago and for the life of me I can't remember where....
Apart from that the car is ready to go...pre-nct test done & 1 new tyre etc... so it'd be pita if I had to cancel now...

Seems to depend on whos at the counter. Girl at work had the same problem, but it wasn't an issue.

Samee happened to me. They asked for driving license, but didn't mention logbook.
Say you sent it to Shannon for change of address if they asked, and it should be ok.
Make sure you have driving license with you, as they are definitely asking for it.

is it your first time to NCT this car ???? if not they have no reason to ask for it now.

i have never been asked for one for an Irish car,and i NCT several cars a year.
I have as it happens been asked for imported cars, for obvious reasons,

they may ask for it, but bring ID with you and just say you've mislaid it and are waiting for Shannon to post you a new one, you will be on the NCT's centre as the registered owner so i dont foresee a problem

They can go ahead and test it but they may not issue the cert and disc until you produce the paperwork.

Well I had the NCT today, I was asked for the log book, said I didn't have it, asked for id - gave them my licence and the € and that was it. Car passed and I got the cert no problem! :)
