One option you have is you could go back and repeat just ordinary maths in the Leaving Cert. I'm not sure if there are other courses which give you the minimum maths requirement.

Thanks yea I was thinking that alright so the level 5 fetac in accounts and payroll probably won't be looked on an exemption for the maths it's a major level 5 on the national framework of qualifications

Your best bet to get a concrete answer is to contact the Gardai and ask them.

You applied for the reserves last week but you failed maths

To my knowledge don't you need maths for garda and garda reserves?
    Requirements here

I am open to correction on this

Cannot see how a FETAC level 5 in Accounting would ever be classed as acceptable for a Leaving Cert Maths exemption.

There is unlikely to be recruitment any time soon - best bet would be to use the time and repeat Leaving Cert maths.

Yea well for the guarda reserves I no that if you failed maths that they look at other things that can stand for you like volunteer work in your community etc , my friend failed her maths but has done alot of volunteer work and she's down they training for the reserves now nut as far as I no there alot stricter when your applying for the guards , thanks for your comments , does anyone have any idea when they will be recruiting for the guards

Nobody ( I include the Garda Commissioner in that ) knows when recruitment will resume - I doubt if much will happen for a year at the very least ( quite possibly 2 years ) so plenty of time to get the Maths exam.
Did you get the rest of the leaving , English , etc ? I would advise you to enroll in a Maths class in September coming - if you put it on the ' long finger ' you run the risk of not being able to apply when recruitment resumes.

Yea I have my English Irish biology geography and social and scientific all pass, yea I must look into that , that seems to be the best thing to do , I must look into it now and see if they do any evening maths courses anywere like the vec or Somewere , iv applied to college to in September to do an access course to do accountancy but to go and be a guard is what I really want , I wonder what would be the best course to go for at college that might just help my chances a bit more , thanks for all the advice by the way
