Recovery Time on Filling

    What's the usual recovery time on a filling? Had a tooth filled on Friday evening and it's still hopping in may mouth with pain. Can never remember how long it should be before the pain goes!

    Kind of a piece of string question, some settle immediately, some take a few days or weeks others never settle. If its really sore you should contact you dentist, having the filling high in the bite is the number 1 cause of post filling discomfort, but if the cavity was very deep there may be other issues too.

    Sorry for the woolly reply, but ufortunatly there is now correct answer.

    Thanks for that. I rang the dentist just to see if he thought they may have been a problem with it or if it was straightforward. I was so nervous, I didn't pay much attention!

    Same issue as this. Had a filling a couple of weeks ago and it seems to be getting more and more sensitive to hot/cold and just paining in general.

    Previous filling never gave me any problems pain or sensitivity wise but dentist said it needed doing, initially it was a little more sensitive but now I have an actual tooth ache.

    Do fillings usually get worse before they get better or would it be a sign something went awry ?

    Yeah i got a filling there on Friday, didn't have pain in the tooth before but dentist said there was a cavity that needed filling. Now the filling is killing me, can't chew on one side of my mouth, guess I'll have to call him on Monday and go back... Only had the one filling before but I'm guessing this type of thing is regular enough to happen?
