Im 19 and i recently finished a plc in may, i was hoping to find employment but no luck as of yet , my friend is in the same situation and he applied for the dole and has just received his first payment, we both applied for college next year and are both unsure if we are going to go or not , i tried to claim and the women told me because i applied for college i will need to wait until september to see if i am to go or not before i can start getting the dole , even though my friend is getting his now. Both my parents dont work , my father gets a basic pension for him and my mother and i dont like having to constantly ask for money off them. Because i wanted to keep my options open and applied for college i apparently cant get any money , even though my friend can and his circumstances are exactly the same financially as mine. Any advice on the matter would be very much appreciated. Thanks

He probably fibbed about his circumstances. You cannot claim UA if you are continuing or intend continuing education. Your father could claim for you from his pension provider. I suppose there's no chance you would be the upstanding citizen and advise your friend to tell Welfare the he intends to go back to college.;)
