Fixing brakes on a Zetor 6211

We've a 1990 Zetor 6211 with shocking brakes, only one side works when you press the pedal. From looking at the service book it appears you need to lift the cab to get at the brakes. We don't really have the facilities to lift the cab and the tractor isn't used that much so not worth paying to get them done.

Does anyone know of a an easier way to get at the brakes? I've tried google but can't find any info.

    Thanks
    Del

u just have to jack the back of the cab a few inches, we use a crab jack but u could do it with a trolley jack and long piece of timber or a fencing stake if u had to

Off-roaders call them Hi-lifts although that's only one of the brand names, also heard of them being called farmer's jacks.

Enough of that anyway, glad you're getting sorted ;)

Been awhile since I done one of these, but I can't think why you would lift the cab, is it not a matter of removing the half axels (very heavy with the reduction gears.) this then would give you access to the slave cylinders and brake shoes, both of which should be replaced as parts are cheap..

The half axle wont come out unless u lift the cab up a little out of the way

is it hydraulic problem- slave/master cylinder or is it just the shoes worn more at one side, parts are cheap, the cab has to be lifted a couple of inches to make way for removing the half housings

Tractors a 1990 and the brakes have never been done. I'd say it's worn out pads.
