    a bit rambly-
    tight budget limits my options-
both bikes are 2nd hand hardtails at a fair price, kid's a good beginner mtbiker-growing and learning fast. needs a sound bike to throw around rough tracks-rock root swamp-needs something hardy that'll survive the learning curve.
the FELT is a neat little bike, perfect for now, but the frame will need to be replaced by mid spring cos it's only 15 and a half inches. the Felt is available to us now...kid will outgrow it. They're good bikes?
(i see bike parts being sold online, so a small frame like that shouldn't be too hard to sell? is it common for people to build their own bikes or is it only a few old die hards who build bikes? is it worthwhile to resell the small Felt mtb frame in springtime? and we could keep the good brakes headset gears etc for fitting on a larger frame? ...that bike building process will drive me insane:D )
the TREK is fine, seems sturdy-?? it's missing suspension adjustment option. at 16 and a half inch it'll be a better long term option? unfortunately it's available to us in october...that's too late -kid's outgrown current bike
i've tried donedeal/adverts.ie/buyandsell...them and the biking websites seem to do 18inch + too big for my kid. what bike shops do SAFE 2nd hand bikes-sth dub/wicklow/nth wexford areas?
or if anyone's looking to sell on a rock solid small mtb ...
