Assisted Boarding - Aer Lingus

    Hi,

I'm going to be booking a flight for my elderly mum but would like to get her assisted boarding at Dublin and Lyon.

She's not wheelchair bound, but I'd like to get her a lift on the back of those buggies from security to the gate and someone to look after her to get on the aircraft.
Jetbridges are fine, but if it's a stairs it would be reassuring to have someone help her aboard(most especially if it's wet!).

AL have an option for Wheelchair assistance, but I'm assuming that's for wheelchair-bound people and tbh, I know she wouldn't like to take up one in case someone else needs it more.

Can anyone with experience or knowledge of this help me out ?

    Cheers.

Click the option for wheelchair assistance.

One of these codes will go in the computer system beside your mothers name depending on what you say at check-in:
WCOB - Wheel Chair On Board - Pax requires on-board/in-flight Assistance
WCHR - Wheel Chair to Ramp - Pax can ascend/descend steps and make own way to/from cabin seat, but requires wheelchair for distance to/from aircraft
WCHS - Wheel Chair to top of Steps - Pax is able to walk but unable to ascend or descend stairs
WCHC - Wheel Chair in Cabin - Pax is paraplegic/quadriplegic, requires an on-board wheelchair and must be carried to/from cabin seat
WCMP - Pax is traveling with manual power wheelchair
WCBD - Pax is traveling with dry cell operated wheelchair
WCBW - Pax is traveling with wet cell operated wheelchair

I dont know how to organise those electric cars though!

WCHS. I think when they say walk they mean on board, as it seems to be WHCR with the addon of the stairs.

There's a new company called Airport Genie who are supposed to help clients with the airport experience. They have advertising all over the airport at the moment. I'd imagine a trip on the buggy would be exactly the sort of thing they do. I don't know for sure, but here's their site.

I'd certainly pay a couple of euro to be ferried to or from the far away gates.

Didn't know about Airport Genie — thanks. Pity they seem to only do Dublin, not Shannon.

Very useful! :) We can just quote a code to stop the check-in-fluffy from misunderstanding the situation.
