    Hi Folks,

I am wondering if it is possible to do a masters while claiming back to work allowance.

I did a masters in electronics 14 years a go but then I went into teaching after the .com collapse in 2002. Now its really hard to get work in teaching and I am thinking of going abroad. I really do not want to as I have a house and my family is getting older.

What I'm wondering is if I can not get the grant (I got one as living at home despite renting in Dublin (700 euro) could I still get social welfare if I did a second masters. My masters was very broad and it did not really help very much, so I want to do a taught masters in computers as there is a high demand for programmers.

    Thanks,

    Paul.

I'm pretty sure, although I could definitely be wrong, that the general go for SW payments and education is that you need to be moving up the ladder, AKA you would get it for doing a level 8 if you have already gotten a level 7, but to do the same level of education again, you get nothing.

That *may* be different if you have never claimed for education in the first place though :)
