Shadow Dancer : Set in 1990s Belfast, an active member of the IRA becomes an informant for MI5 in order to protect her son's welfare.

Really looking forward to this one. It kind of came out of the blue but I think it looks really good. Release date on IMDB is 24 August 2012. Anyone heard anything about it?

    Saw this today.

Andrea Riseborough is outstanding and the film itself is a passable enough thriller. But it lacks the tension of, say, Animal Kingdom or the aesthetics of Tinker Tailor. It's still a reasonably well executed slow burner until the final act, at which point it kind of went off the rails with two plot twists that didn't make any sense to me.

I saw it over the weekend and really... enjoy seems the wrong word but it was great. Very much a slow burner and the lack of dialogue in some scenes raised the tension factor to near unbearable levels. Lead actress, as SP stated was outstanding and I think they did a really good job of capturing 1990's Belfast.
From a jolt of a start and an ending I didn't expect I was hooked.

-Though and this is a minor gripe... I was taken out of the movie when parts that were supposed to be a port / dock in Belfast was shot on the South Bull Wall in Sandymount.

Saw this a couple of months ago at the galway film fleadh..Not the best thriller i've seen but very good all the same..Andrea Riseborough (mentioned already) was fantastic, and Domhnall Gleeson was also surprisingly brilliant. Up until this film I always thought he was fairly mediocre but he surprised me in this. I'd definitely reccommend the fllm, it's enjoyable to watch especially if you like a good thriller but most importantly I think everyone should go and see it to support the Irish film industry!! :D:D

I thought it was a fairly good film (far better than Total Recall anyway :P )

    Though
I didn't think it fully captured the claustrophobia of Belfast, the row after row of red brick buildings was missing and I thought the scene in the pub didn't capture fully the fear of the pub shootings of the time. Both of these points would have added to the film I think.

It did keep me thinking as to who was the informer that Collete was recruited to cover.

What I also liked was the lack of in your face violence. Any shooting or bombing was as I can only imagine would be like in real life.

The film isn't available to buy yet. Will probably be on iTunes when the DVD is released in January.
