I've been on a really rubbish hybrid bike for a year now and have been dying to get a good road bike. For boring reasons I'm only getting around to getting a bike now. I'm getting it off a friend and I'm now able to get on the bike to work. So im gonna use the €1000 from the bike to work for accessories. So what should I get.

    I'd like: A Garmin Edge
    Two kits
    Cycling Shoes
    Necessary Tools

    Any other reccommendations?

Good waterproof and breathable jacket, waterproof helmet cover, waterproof overshoes, few pairs of gloves, a good set of lights, cycling glasses, and important - comfortable underwear.

SHORTS! Expect to pay €80+ on a good pair of shorts with good padding.

Garmin Edge - I'd recommend the 500, it's pretty much the same as the 800 without the mapping

I'd personally leave the glasses until you see them in Lidl/Aldi, unless you're stuck for them at the moment. Aldi had them last weekend at €3/pair.

If you haven't considered pedals and clip-in shoes, that would be something to look at. You'd be talking maybe €110-140+ for the two, but worth getting.

Kits - maybe get one kit for now, because if you're doing any leisure cycles like the Sean Kelly, you'll get loads of jerseys here and there. Shorts are the main thing.

A good set of tyre levers for when you get a puncture. BBB make good ones.

10% off everything at planet x, maybe ending tonight. 10%off at Ribble and Wiggle too ending in a couple of days. Probikekit also has a similar sale, not sure about their stock. Think I saw Garmin edge 500 on special offer at bike 24
